Starting August/September 2025

YFU Flanders organizes school visits in local secondary schools all over the country to promotecultural awareness among young people. You are expected to pitch why going on exchange is of value to yourself and your surroundings. You are not afraid to speak in front of groups and youcan bring a message loud and clear while staying close to the living environment of youraudience which will mainly consist of students aged 15 to 18.

When? Target period: Between September 2025 and March 2026. The duration of this internship is flexible depending on your availability.

What? 
As our intern, you’ll become an integral part of our YFU Flanders office in Mechelen.

Your mission?
To inspire the next generation of exchange students by visiting secondary schools across Flanders and sharing the life-changing value of international exchange. You’ll be in charge of planning, scheduling, and giving dynamic presentations – a role with plenty of freedom, room for creativity, and the option to work on your own personal project. Depending upon your skills, interests and ideas, you can support our inbound students, build our volunteer community, and others. The duration of this internship is flexible depending on your availability.

Who are we looking for?
- You understand the impact of international youth exchange – ideally from personal experience.
- You’re confident speaking to groups of students aged 15–18.
- While English is fine to start with, you're motivated to pick up Dutch quickly.
- You're adventurous, independent, and are willing to navigating public transport across Flanders.

What we offer:
- A unique experience working from our centrally located office in Mechelen
- A host family stay in or near Mechelen – a true cultural experience
- A monthly allowance of €200 for personal expenses
- Full reimbursement for work-related travel: A bus pass for Flanders that may also be used for personal purposes. We provide your train tickets for travel inside Belgium: to the office, to schools and to other events.
- A bike will be made available to you during your stay.

Intern for "Coloured Glasses" or "Cultural Games" Workshops

YFU Flanders organizes workshops in local communities in the entire Flanders region to promote intercultural awareness among children and the youth in general. We organize two types of workshops:

Coloured Glasses
workshops are suitable for teenagers.
Cultural Games
are are suitable for all children from the age of 4 to 12.

Every year we offer European Solidarity Corps internships for both workshops starting in August/September. If you want to learn more about this type of internship and the possibilities of the European Solidarity Corps, check out our web page designed for this.
